Master Club Fitter Opens Innovative GolfLab
ST. LOUIS, July 16, 2007 - Award winning, 20 year Master Clubfitter and craftsman, John Kelly of St. Louis has opened a unique golf lab providing golfers the highest level of customized services and products available in the golf industry. Midwest GolfLab opened to the public on July 16, 2007 with a grand opening scheduled for later this summer.
Located at 13378 Manchester Road in Des Peres, Midwest GolfLab combines superior quality club making with the most advanced swing analysis technology, training and video practice areas in the Midwest. Master clubfitter John Kelly believes golfers of all skill levels deserve to enjoy the same benefits afforded the world's top golfers, "We have made available to the average golfer the same tour-quality, proprietary technology that is used to assess golf equipment used by the world's best players. We are now able to provide the most technologically advanced fitting process to the average golfer that up to this point hasn't been available in the St. Louis area".
Midwest GolfLab also features PuttLab, a computer analysis putting system that provides feedback normally reserved for the lab technicians at major club manufacturers. Kelly commented, "while the swing analysis technology will probably be the most used equipment in the store, the PuttLab/PuttFit is probably the most needed technology by the average golfer. The feedback we can now give players on their putting stroke will shave strokes off their score after only one session on the PuttLab and can be reinforced thru the systems practice mode, as well as giving new insight into putter fitting." Midwest GolfLab (MGL) is the exclusive dealer of the T.P. Mills ‘Limited Production” line of putters used on the major professional tours.
Local entrepreneur and investor in Midwest GolfLab, Joe Smith, created the concept with John Kelly and is excited to offer something new and different to Metro Area golfers, "being an avid golfer and frequent customer of most conventional golf retailers, I would often sense a lack of expertise and sincerity, that in my opinion, is crucial to creating satisfied customers." Smith believes the concept of providing highly competent, welcoming staff coupled with the most current, useful technology, training systems and superior built golf equipment will allow Midwest Golflabs to deliver on their promise, "our one goal in mind is to make our clients better golfers and have them enjoy the experience during the process."
Another unique element about Midwest Golflab is their relationship with area golf professionals. "Our affiliation with the Gateway PGA chapter and the ability to develop training programs with their talented and resourceful members, for clients use in our facility are additional pathways for a golfers success any any skill level", commented Smith.
For the last 20 years, John Kelly operated a small golf shop in University City and focused most of his time on club fitting, club making and club repair. Kelly earned the distinction and was the 3 time recipient of the “Midwest Clubmaker of the Year” award as well as a select nominee to Golf Digest/Golf Shop Operations “Clubfitter of the Year”. Known by many of the top amateurs and golf professionals as the equipment guru and the person to go to for club repair or custom club fitting, Kelly is now able to showcase his talents to a broader golf audience at Midwest GolfLab.
Possessing 20 years experience, Kelly stresses “Quality golf equipment is not about brand names and slick marketing campaigns. It is about exhaustive swing analysis, superior fitting techniques, top foundry quality control checks and attention to detail in design analysis and the individual construction of the golf clubs, one club at a time”.
